Mega Save
Optical
Mega Save Optical has sold designer eyewear on the same Bloor Street corner since 1999. We gave them a mark that fits on a lens cloth, a website that loads before you finish the click, and Instagram posts people actually stop to read.

01 — Brand Identity
Nine sketches. One mark.
Everything below comes from one identity board: nine logo explorations, five colors, and three typefaces.
The mark
The nine explorations test the same idea two ways. A few put the M inside the iris as a small monogram. The rest work the letter into the outline of the eye itself, so you see an eye first and find the M second. The second direction won. The final mark is two open strokes that interlock, and it stays legible at favicon size, on a storefront sign, and above the full wordmark.
The palette
Charcoal #2A2522 carries the logo, the text, and anything that needs weight. The two reds, deep #A90015 and brighter #C30011, are the attention colors, used where the brand has to compete for a glance. Cool grey #CED2DC and off-white #F2F5FA keep the layouts around them calm and clean. The note on the board says why: an energetic yet clean palette, picked to stand out in a competitive market.
The type
Montserrat Medium is the logo face. Open Sans Medium sets titles. Poppins Regular handles body copy because it stays friendly and easy to read at small sizes, which matters when the subject is prescriptions and lens coatings. Each face has one job, so the brand looks the same wherever it shows up.

02 — Web Development
The same site. None of the weight.
The old site ran on WordPress and Elementor, the usual plugin pile that gets slower every year it’s left alone. We rebuilt it as a static Astro site: the same product-forward, value-led home page, the same designer-brand slideshow, the same $45 hook, but with none of the weight.

Fast by design
A static site has no database to query and no plugins to update, so there’s less that can break and less that can slow it down. For a shop competing on “designer frames from $45,” a page that loads in under three seconds matters as much as the price itself.
Static Astro build, no WordPress core or plugin updates to manage.
Images optimised to AVIF and WebP, cutting page weight without cutting quality.
Live Google reviews pulled in automatically at build time, no manual copy-pasting.
Self-hosted with one-command deploys, so updates ship in minutes, not tickets.
03 — Social / Educational
Running Mega Save’s Instagram
The strategy
Veluxur handles the feed from planning to posting. Instead of discount ads, the account runs an ongoing “Did You Know?” series built from the questions customers ask at the counter: does screen time need special lenses, does a strong prescription mean thick glasses. Answering those in public makes the shop the expert before anyone walks in.
The format
Every post uses the same template, so followers recognise the series mid-scroll: the repeating headline as the backdrop, a speech bubble carrying the question. The bubble asks and the caption answers, which pulls readers past the image and into the caption, exactly the kind of time-on-post Instagram rewards with reach.

Using repeating text behind the copy to create eye-catching visual texture on the feed
